Durkin Honoured by Suncorp Stadium

Tony Durkin, the editor of the weekly summary of competition results – the Headland Headlines, was inducted into the Suncorp Stadium Media Hall of Fame earlier this week.

Tony joined Headland in 2007, and has been co-ordinating the Headland Headlines since 2017.  He is currently taking a leave of absence from golfing activities at Headland, as he settles into his new home at the Palm Lakes Resort Pelican Waters – but remains as committed to telling the stories of our winners of regular club events as ever.  Tony also acts as the Master of Ceremonies at the Club’s annual Presentation Night in December.

Keen followers of rugby league would probably be aware of his distinguished career in that sport.  Tony was the Queensland Editor of the esteemed publication Rugby League Week for two decades, and later served a stint as Media Manager of the Brisbane Broncos through that Club’s glory years.  He is also as founding member of the Family of League (formerly Men of League) Sunshine Coast Committee.

Durkin was inducted into the Suncorp Stadium Media Hall of Fame on Monday, at a ceremony that also saw long-time Courier-Mail golf writer Bernie Pramberg, as well as Wayne Smith and Ray Warren also inducted.  There is now just 17 journalists in the Suncorp Stadium Media Hall of Fame.

On behalf of all at the Headland Golf Club – congratulations Durko!
