Indooroopilly’s Scott Draper shot the best round on both days of the 2024 Sunshine Coast Men’s Open Amateur Championship to win by an impressive five strokes today.
Draper – the former tennis professional, who recorded a Grand Slam Mixed Doubles victory during a decorated career, shot rounds of 68 and 70, and had just three bogeys in the 36 hole event. Headland’s Ben Duncombe pushed Draper all the way, closing to within two strokes deep in the last nine, before dropping five shot on 16 and 17, and giving up second place to Pacific’s Mitchell Salmond.
A special presentation was made to tournament sponsor Justin Walsh from Walsh Consulting Engineers – to mark the 25th consecutive year that “Jud” has sponsored this event.
