In difficult conditions today, 49-year-old Matt Prince fired off a round of 3-over-par 71 to lead the Men’s Club Championship by two strokes.
The 17-year Headland Member has been in good form over the last month or so, and is looking to claim the Championship for the first time. Three players – Justin Nicholson, Adam Rydwanski and Wayne West are tied for second after shooting rounds of 73 today. Defending Champion Adam Richards is a further stroke back, alongside Michael Zecomske and Paul Henricks.
It is also a two stroke margin in B Grade, with Mark Wittholz round of 79 seeing him two clear Ian Farrington and Gary Clarke.
Mick Prince (no relation to Matt) leads C Grade after today’s 85, with Roger Van Ginkle and Ross Itzstein three strokes back.
Bryan Haggarty leads the Seniors section after a 79 today, while Sam Fichera is the only player in the field eligible for the Junior Championship, and carded an 88 today.
The second round will be contested tomorrow – Sunday 20th August, with the 3rd and 4th rounds to be contested next week-end.
